I James Capper of Hartpury in the
County of Gloucester Yeoman Do hereby declare this
to be my last Will and Testament I give and devise
unto my son James Capper All that piece of Freehold
Land situate behind the Cottage belonging to my said
Son which said piece of Land with other property I
purchased of John Moody To hold the same unto my
said son James Capper his heirs and assigns for ever
Subject nevertheless and charged with the payment of
Fifty pounds which I owe upon note to Mr Clarke of
Ashleworth I give and bequeath unto my son George
Capper for the term of his natural Life the Leasehold
Piece of Ground called the field behind the old house
containing one acre or thereabouts which I hold under
the Dean and Chapter of Gloucester with the appurtenances
And from and after his decease I give and bequeath
the same piece of Land with the appurtenances unto the
children of the said George Capper who shall survive him and
to the issue of such of them as shall have died in his life
time to be equally divided between them Nevertheless the
issue of such of the children of my said son George who
shall have died in his lifetime to take his hers or their
parents share only And I hereby direct that my said
son George Capper shall during his life pay the renewal
Fine and Expences to the Dean and Chapter in respect
of the Field behind the old House I give and
bequeath unto my Dear Daughter Ann the wife of
James Dobbins All other the property which I hold
by Lease under the Dean and Chapter of Gloucester
except the Field behind the old House To hold the
same to my said Dear Daughter charged and chargeable
with the money I owe thereon to my sister Davis and
Mr Clarke being Thirty Six pounds or thereabouts her
Executors Administrators and assigns absolutely And
as to all the rest residue of my personal Estate
whatsoever and wheresoever I give and bequeath the
same to my said Dear Daughter absolutely And
I hereby revoke all former Wills and appoint my
said son James Capper and my said Daughter Ann
Dobbins Executrix of this my Will

Twentieth day of July in the year of our Lord one
thousand Eight hundred and forty three.

Appeared personally James Capper of the parish
of Hartpury in the County of Gloucester Yeoman
and Ann Dobbins wife of James Dobbins of the
parish of Corse in the same County Carpenter and
alleged upon oath that the foregoing paperwriting
contains the last Will and Testament of James
Capper late of Hartpury aforesaid deceased who
died on the seventeenth day of October 1843
leaving Goods Chattels and Credits wholly
within the Diocese of Gloucester and Bristol under
the value of One hundred pounds That they
and the joint Executors therein named that
they will well and faithfully perform the same
and render an Inventory and Account of Probate
Sworn under £100 Wherefore they prayed
